Access Control System – Module 5

Course Overview

Commissioning Physical Access Control Systems

This course focuses on the final and most critical phase of an access control project: commissioning and deployment. It provides learners with a structured, best-practice approach to preparing, configuring, testing, and handing over enterprise-level Physical Access Control Systems (PACS) for live operation.

Participants will learn how to move an access control system from installed hardware to a fully operational, secure, and user-ready solution. The course covers commissioning readiness, system architecture validation, software and hardware configuration, advanced security features, user and credential setup, shift-based access control, reporting, and end-user training.

What You Will Learn

By the end of this course, learners will be able to:

  • Understand the commissioning lifecycle and readiness framework for access control projects
  • Perform pre-deployment planning, technical preparation, and stakeholder coordination
  • Validate system architecture, including servers, controllers, readers, and network infrastructure
  • Configure access control software, security settings, and audit logging
  • Add and configure readers, controllers, inputs, outputs, and door logic
  • Define access groups, access levels, and time-based permissions
  • Implement advanced security features such as anti-passback and dual door interlock
  • Configure user accounts, credentials, shifts, and attendance tracking
  • Set up client workstations, monitoring dashboards, alerts, and reports
  • Conduct end-user training and ensure smooth system handover
